The doubles championship followed the singles award ceremony and it was a COMPETITIVE one! The fans cheered on both teams as they played with passion all the way through the 4-6, 7-6(4), [11-9] exciting title match.

In Appreciation…

Five months of planning and operations whizzed by, consuming 3,000-plus man hours to continue the tradition of women’s pro tennis in Midland, as the 27th edition of the Dow Corning Tennis Classic concluded another year.

We are grateful for the community and fan support of this USTA/ITF Pro Circuit event, tops on the tour, the only pro tennis in Michigan, and the longest-running tournament on the 80-stop circuit.

Midland is a community that earned the designation USTA Best Tennis Town in the US. Support for tennis, especially this pro tennis event, has been forthcoming since 1989. But it must be earned anew each year.
We are grateful for the community’s encouragement and trust in us as we serve as stewards for this spectacular sports/entertainment tennis festival.

With regard to our loyal cadre of 260 volunteers staffing 13 different positions, delivering guest relations, we cannot but say again: “You guys are the best, your enthusiasm catchy, your dedication to pro tennis awesome and your laughter absolutely, positively inspiring.
Each year our corporate sponsors step up with the critical financial support needed to present this unique sports event. Nothing happens without them. Everything happens when they are present and accounted for—we cannot thank you enough.

This is especially true for The Dow Corning Corporation, title sponsor of the event, whose generosity has resulted in a pro tennis tradition for our region.

Finally, for the players across the globe and our “Friends of Tennis” who worked for two world-wide corporations and played their tennis here, and yes on behalf of Miriam and Gil Harter who’ve never missed the event in 27 years……

Thank you one and all. You made success happen again.
